Aquatic therapy, also called pool therapy, is therapy provided in a heated pool. The water provides support and helps your child gain strength and coordination in a calming and relaxing place. During aquatic therapy:

  • The water increases strength and the ability to move joints.
  • The water stimulates the body with gentle movement and pressure.
  • Muscles relax and are easier to stretch because the pool is heated.
  • Your child can learn or relearn a skill in the water and carry over what they learn out of the water.
