Choosing Children's National for Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy can help your child improve in their ability to perform everyday tasks. With the help of our experts your child will work on developing skills like the ones listed below:
- Self care skills, such as feeding, dressing and grooming
- Hand strengthening and coordination skills needed for activities like coloring, buttoning, using food utensils and more
- Improved posture, balance and coordination
- Better understanding of the sounds, signs and other movements around them
- Adaptive equipment and assistive technology recommendations and training
Some areas of concern our specialists will address are:
- Avoidance of specific food groups and/or textures
- Delayed age-appropriate eating/drinking skills
- Difficulty transitioning from tube feeds to oral feeding
- Gagging, coughing, choking, vomiting before, during or after meals
- Limited amount or variety of foods in diet
- Limited self-feeding skills
