The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is a three-year program designed to give fellows comprehensive education in the care of critically ill children in a high-volume urban setting. Our goal is to prepare future leaders in the field of pediatric critical care.

During the fellowship, fellows will divide their time between the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), with the remainder of the time spent engaging in a research project of their choice. The PICU is a 48-bed unit, which includes a neurocritical care area, an isolation area capable of positive and negative pressure isolation and facilities for special isolation in case of patients with high-risk infections. The CICU consists of 26 private rooms, an echocardiography/catheterization viewing area and video monitoring in all rooms.

Both are high volume units with a wide breadth of patient exposure. Fellows will work closely with nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, respiratory therapists, social workers and case managers. In addition, fellows will gain rich experience from our multidisciplinary and family-centered clinical rounds. Both units have been outfitted with telemedicine capabilities to allow for safe and effective patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
