Hometown: Boerne, Texas
Undergraduate: Texas State University
Medical School: University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio
Residency: University of California – Davis
Other Degrees/Training experiences: I was initially earning my doctorate in clinical psychology when I chose instead to take my pre-reqs and apply to medical school. I have found that while psychology and cardiology are not at all similar, I've been able to use my prior psychology training in essentially every patient and working encounter.
Why Children's National: I wanted a large high-volume program where I would be exposed to every type of pathology. I especially loved how many people I spoke to were into good music, many of them playing instruments of their own. DC was a perfect location for my family since my husband works in government.
Hobbies/Interests: Most of my time these days outside of work involves chasing my kiddos around. My grown-up hobbies include scuba diving, hiking, writing, swimming, and someday I hope to make time for piano and drums again.<
