Our Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine department is composed of six faculty members. All patients who are being evaluated or treated for functional deficits in outpatient and inpatient settings are seen and discussed with a PRM faculty member. The fellows work very closely with providers from multiple pediatric subspecialties, including but not limited to general pediatrics, neurology, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, urology and genetics.
Call is taken from home except for weekend and holiday in-house rounding on inpatients. Call is taken in one weeklong block with average frequency being every six weeks. The fellows always have attending physician back-up/supervision when they take call.
Fellows have seven educational days that can be used to attend at least one PRM relevant conference per year. Funding is allocated to help cover travel and conference fees. Fellows have access to the medical library through Children’s National and George Washington University. Fellows can attend various lectures offered through Children’s National.
Fellows have 20 vacation days per year which can be taken at any point during the year with approval from the program director and department chair.
