Curriculum
The Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship consists of several experiences, including core lecture series, conferences and didactics. The core lecture series orients fellows to specific pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of symptoms. Fellows will also be introduced to expressive and supportive care teams, such as music therapy, art therapy, child life, spiritual care, social workers, etc.
Conferences include:
- Board review preparation course in the spring with local fellowship programs, led by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Journal club with palliative care team
- Didactic lectures with adult hospice and palliative care fellows
Ongoing didactics are with inpatient consult service, inpatient and home hospice, pain team, long-term care facility, elective and education time.
Research
A quality improvement project is required to be completed during this one-year fellowship.
