The overarching objective of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program at Children’s National Hospital is to foster the comprehensive growth of knowledge, skills, and experience essential for delivering the highest quality perioperative care to pediatric patients across diverse age groups and healthcare needs. Emphasizing a family-centric approach, our program encompasses a broad spectrum of anesthesia modalities, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and sedation, tailored to accommodate routine as well as complex medical procedures.  Furthermore, we are committed to customizing the fellowship experience to align with each fellow’s unique professional goals and individual learning needs, ensuring a personalized and enriching educational journey.  

During the year, fellows will have dedicated rotations, including:

  • Cardiac anesthesia
  • Regional anesthesia
  • Acute pain service
  • PICU/CICU
  • Ambulatory rotation:
    • The Montgomery County Ambulatory Surgery Center
    • MRI/Radiology
    • Non-operating room anesthesia (NORA)
    • Supervisory rotation (sub-attending role)  
  • Elective of the fellow’s choice:
    • Interventional Radiology
    • Health Policy Course 
    • Overseas mission trips
    • NICU
    • Chronic Pain & Palliative Care 
  • Other:
    • Vacation block (20 days)
    • Monthly academic day
    • Wellness day
    • Meeting time (5 days)

In addition to a strong clinical experience, fellows actively participate in a robust didactic program, including the following:
