  • Evan Sheppard, MD, obtained his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama, Birmingham and went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at Children's National Hospital. Dr. Sheppard strongly believes that innovation and education drives quality and has authored many peer reviewed articles, presented at national meetings and was a Joseph E. Robert, Jr. fellow in pediatric surgical innovation at Children's National Hospital. He also routinely participates in resident education, giving lectures to the orthopaedic residents at Georgetown, George Washington, Howard and Walter Reed.

    Outside of the hospital, Dr. Sheppard enjoys spending time with his wife and son. They love taking advantage of the great activities for toddlers in the area, such as the National Zoo and the museums on the Mall.

She has been working with athletes of all ages in Montgomery County for nearly 10 years and has enjoyed helping her patients get back to the activities and sports that they are specifically passionate about. Additionally, she has been certified in trigger point dry needling since 2017 which allows her to further service her patients with their specific soft tissue/muscle issues. While a lover of all sports, she is a particularly passionate football and hockey fan.

    She is passionate about helping the pediatric/adolescent athlete overcome sports injuries by providing highly skilled, sport- and child-specific care that displays compassion, patience and determination to help young athletes navigate the often-challenging road to recovery. She is deeply committed to encouraging, equipping and empowering her patients and their families to not only heal from their injuries, but to become stronger, faster and more confident as they return to the sports and activities they love.

    Nathalia lives in Virginia and has a very active lifestyle. She enjoys taking and teaching group exercise classes, hiking, kayaking and spending time with friends, family and her church community.

He is a Maryland native, born and raised in Prince George’s County. Additionally, Bashir is a former high school and collegiate short sprinter and hurdler. He uses his experiences as a former college athlete to provide personalized and informed care to all the young athletes he works with. Outside of the clinic he most enjoys spending time outdoors and with family. Although he will watch and play any sport available to him, Bashir is a huge basketball fan and loves to play recreationally.

  • Mia Caminita, MS, is a biomechanist and engineer who leads the Sports Performance and Motion Analysis Lab at the Fight for Children Sports Medicine Center. She is passionate about using motion analysis technologies to enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, guide return-to-sport recommendations and improve gait mechanics. Mia is also a former competitive figure skater and has over 10 years of experience coaching and working with youth athletes and their families.

In 2023 she graduated with a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Denver while working in the Center of Orthopedic Biomechanics human dynamics lab. In this role she worked with osteoarthritic patients receiving knee replacements to analyze functionality and pain relief. Samantha is passionate about using motion analysis technologies to enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, guide return-to-sport recommendations and improve gait mechanics.

    Samantha is a former competitive basketball player at the University of Rochester and now enjoys an active lifestyle.
