The Link Between Autism and Trans Identity
Evidence indicates a link between transgenderism and autism spectrum disorders. Research on the overlap between autism and gender diversity-a term used to define those who, either by nature or choice, do not conform to conventional gender-based expectations-is a relatively new field. John Strang, PsyD, Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, led a study that published the first clinical guidelines for adolescents with autism and gender dysphoria.
