Children’s National Hospital announced a second year of success for its Conway Nursing Pathway Program, during a time of heightened stress for health care providers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The program offers scholarship, mentorship and work study for nurses at all stages of their careers, aiming to deepen career satisfaction and reduce the financial burden of higher education. The result is better care for children from more passionate, experienced nurses.

Childrens National Hospital joins pediatric health challenge led by Center for Advancing Innovation

Reinforcing its commitment to expanding innovation in pediatric care, Children’s National Hospital is joining with the Center for Advancing Innovation (CAI) , and collaborators Resonance Philanthropies and Digital Infuzion, to launch the 2021-2022 Innovate Children’s Health Challenge to encourage the commercialization of technologies that improve children’s health care. This year’s event, Innovate Children’s Health II, focuses on technologies that address pandemic resiliency and prevention in the pediatric population and seeks to advance diagnostics, therapeutics and digital health tools that address pediatric mental health.

Children’s National Hospital welcomes Muller Fabbri, M.D., Ph.D., expert in microRNAs in cancer biology, as associate director of the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research

Children’s National Hospital is pleased to announce it has selected Muller Fabbri, M.D., Ph.D., as associate director for the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research at the Children’s National Research Institute. In this role, he will build and lead the Cancer Biology Program while developing and conducting basic and translational research. Dr. Fabbri will also develop multidisciplinary research projects with various clinical divisions, including oncology, blood and marrow transplantation, pathology and hematology.

Twelve-year-old Skylah Jackson from Ward 8 in Washington, D.C., had a special guest in her support network while getting her COVID-19 vaccine today – the First Lady of the United States. First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, toured the COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Children’s National Hospital.

Prestigious annual pediatric medical device competition reveals five finalists

Five finalists have been named in the prestigious annual “Make Your Medical Device Pitch for Kids!” competition presented by the National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation (NCC-PDI). Representing innovations in electrophysiology devices that treat congenital heart disease (CHD) and arrhythmias in pediatric patients, these five finalists now have access to a pediatric accelerator program led by MedTech Innovator and will compete for a share of $150,000 in grant funding from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the final virtual pitch event in September 2021. The pediatric pitch event is part of the 9th Annual Symposium on Pediatric Device Innovation, co-located with the MedTech Conference, powered by AdvaMed.
