National Proton Center Opening

Now children in the Washington, D.C. region can receive proton therapy closer to home with the opening of the new Johns Hopkins National Proton Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital. The new proton center in collaboration with Children's National Hospital will provide advanced cancer treatment to children and is one of only a few centers nationally with a dedicated pediatric team.

Lee Savio Beers, M.D., FAAP, Medical Director of Community Health and Advocacy at the Child Health Advocacy Institute (CHAI) at Children’s National Hospital, was elected by her peers to become president-elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics beginning Jan. 1, 2020.

Neuroscientist selected as IF/THEN Ambassador

Lataisia C. Jones, Ph.D., at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C.,  was selected on Sept. 9, 2019 to serve as an IF/THEN Ambassador by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest general scientific society, to inspire the next generation of women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
