Adipomics, a Children's National Health System (CNHS) startup, has been selected to present in the first
University Startups Demo Day at Congress on September 20, 2016, in Washington, DC. Organized by
The National Council of Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer (NCET2), an association of university Startup Officers, Demo Day is an opportunity for startups to present their company and work.
Adipomics was one of 32 companies selected from a pool of 200 applicants as one of the “Best Startups in 2016.” The company was founded in 2015 with the goal of improving diagnostics and treatment around childhood obesity by developing an early detection method for diagnosing obesity. The diagnostic can extract and fully assess adipocyte-derived exosomes from urine - allowing for a non-invasive early detection and longitudinal tracking tool for obesity-induced comorbid diseases.

Our researchers have successfully launched more than a dozen startup companies, which continues to further establish Children National’s role as a leading innovation hub in the biomedical and bioengineering fields.”

Little attention has been drawn into the efforts for transformations occurring at universities to build campus-wide innovative ecosystems. The University Startups Demo Day is one such opportunity for higher education institutions to showcase their role as facilitators and incubators for the innovations happening in the health technology industry.
