Washington Business Journal Names Former Children's National COB as Outstanding Director
March 27, 2015
Washington, DC –The Washington Business Journal named James W. Lintott, former Chairman of the Board of
Children’s National Health System, one of its 2015 Outstanding Directors. Mr. Lintott was among seven other Washington, DC, area board members who were honored for their business savvy and dedication to leading their respective organizations to success.
The honor recognizes Mr. Lintott’s contributions while serving on the Children’s Hospital Foundation Board and the Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) Board during the last 14 years. During this time Mr. Lintott has seen Children’s National through a number of important initiatives.
The first was the funding and building of the East Inpatient Tower, which opened in 2007. The tower is a state-of-the-art facility for patients and families offering more than 200 beds. Fifty four of these beds are bassinets in a qualified Level IV NICU specifically designed to care for infants with the most complex care needs. Mr. Lintott also worked very closely with a team from Children’s National to facilitate a $150 million transformational philanthropic gift from the Government of Abu Dhabi in 2010. This gift went towards the creation of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation as part of a vision to make pediatric surgery more precise, less invasive, and pain-free.
He saw Children’s National through a change in CEO leadership, playing a major role in the recruitment and mentorship of Kurt Newman, MD, as the Children’s President and CEO in 2011. “Jim embodies the Children’s National mission of excelling in pediatric care, research, education and advocacy, to make an appreciable difference in the health and well-being of children everywhere,” stated Dr. Newman. “I believe this award could not have gone to a more dedicated leader and philanthropist, and one who has helped to make Children’s National the successful organization it is today. For Jim, it is always about the kids.”
While he stepped down as Chairman of the Board of CNMC after 4-1/2 years, Mr. Lintott continues to serve as a member of the Children’s Hospital Foundation Board, where he has previously served as Chairman.
Mr. Lintott is co-founder of the Freedom Management Group and Sterling Foundation Management, LLC. He serves on additional organizational boards, including those for Sterling Foundation Management, LLC, Reason Foundation, Enviva, LP, United States - Japan Foundation, and Best Buddies International. He received his undergraduate and graduate education from Stanford University.
