Child Psychologist Discusses How Food Advertising Can Impact a Child's Eating Habits

Eleanor Mackey, PhD, a child psychologist with the Obesity Institute, spoke to WTOP recently about a new study finding that half of the foods advertised on children's television programs fall short of nutritional guidelines. Dr. Mackey calls the practice harmful, saying it can make it difficult for children to make healthy food choices. 

Dr. Mackey says, “I think the fight against tobacco is a great indication of how we might win the war against obesity — by trying to place more limits and recognizing that what we are selling to kids is not only harmful, but potentially addictive.”
