After Half-Century of Service Children's National Nurse Miss McAbee Retires

Children’s National Health System nurse Clydia McAbee, or "Miss McAbee" to her patients, recently completed her last week on the job she called home for 50 years.

When Miss McAbee began her career, in 1965, she donned a white dress and nurse’s cap. While she first treated cancer patients, she spent the majority of her career at the Shaw Health Center, treating generations of families as if they were her own.
