Children’s Sahira Long, M.D. Discusses Coalition’s Efforts May Contribute to Increase in Number of Breastfeeding Mothers

Pediatrician and President of the D.C. Breastfeeding Coalition, Sahira Long, M.D. believes that the coalition’s efforts account for some of the increase in number of mothers who are choosing to breastfeed in the city. She states that half of the city’s eight hospitals are on track to earn the baby-friendly designation by the end of the year, meaning that they follow practices that strongly support breastfeeding.
