Children’s National Medical Center Expands Services At Mary Washington and Stafford Hospitals

February 06, 2012

Fredericksburg, VA—Physicians and Nurse Practitioners of Children’s National Medical Center have begun seeing and treating patients in the NICU at Mary Washington Hospital and in the newborn nurseries at Stafford and Mary Washington Hospitals. These services began on February 1.

Under a new agreement, highly trained Children’s National physicians provide 24-hour coverage, consultations, assessments, and care to newborn babies in Mary Washington’s NICU and at Stafford Hospital’s Level II Nursery. In addition, Children’s National physicians at Stafford Hospital will be on site to make appropriate consultations on pediatric patients coming through Stafford Hospital’s Emergency Department.

This arrangement expands upon the services that were previously offered at Mary Washington Hospital. Since 2010, Children’s National has provided pediatric hospitalist services at Mary Washington Hospital, under the leadership of Francisco Alvarez, MD, to ensure a high level of care for patients who are hospitalized. Expanding this partnership will enhance collaboration for pediatric medical services in the Fredericksburg area.
