Summer Just Got More Fun

Two girls hug and smile as other kids play in the backgroundBrainy Camps is now collaborating with Melwood on a new summer camp program called Camp Accomplish. Camp Accomplish will continue to offer a consortium of residential (and day camps) for kids living with:

  • Autism
  • Epilepsy
  • Heart disease
  • Hemiplegia/cerebral palsy
  • Hydrocephalus
  • Neurofibromatosis
  • Sickle cell anemia
  • Tourette syndrome
  • Type 1 diabetes

Additional camps will be developed based on requests and needs. Ideas for new camps are always welcome.

About Camp Accomplish

Each session serves campers living with a specific health condition, giving them the opportunity to:

  • Campers play tug of warLearn about their condition
  • Become effective partners in managing their own care
  • Connect in peer support groups
  • Forge lasting friendships with kids facing similar challenges
  • Gain confidence and build self-esteem

In the future, family camps will also be available, giving parents and siblings the opportunity to join the fun while learning how to live well as a family.

Camp Location

Camps are held at at Melwood’s beautiful 100+ acre facility in nearby Charles County, Maryland.

We Care for Your Camper

Children's National staff help campers throughout their time at Camp Accomplish. Staff include:

  • Medical doctors
  • Nurses
  • Nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  • Occupational and physical therapists
  • Psychologists
  • Social workers

In addition, qualified camp counselors are carefully chosen based on genuine interest and experience working with children and their chronic health condition. In fact, many were once campers themselves.
