Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Referral Guidelines

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Children’s National Health System boasts three full-timepediatric plastic surgeons trained and specialized in treating a variety of acquired and congenital disorders inchildren. We are the largest and most experienced group of pediatric plastic surgeons in the Mid-Atlantic regionand one of the largest in the United States. Each surgeon on our team is Board certified by the American Boardof Plastic Surgery and we are the only plastic surgeons in the Greater DC area with practices dedicated exclusivelyto the care of children.

For the convenience of your patients, our surgeons now see patients at multiple locations throughout the GreaterDC area. We are here to serve you and your patients.

Referral Guidelines

We provide care for a wide range of diagnoses, including: 

  • Cleft lip and palate
  • Craniosynostosis, plagiocephaly, head shape concerns
  • Facial asymmetry or paralysis, congenital or acquired
  • Hand and wrist problems, congenital or acquired  
  • Adolescent breast differences (gynecomastia, macromastia, asymmetry)
  • Vascular anomalies
  • Cutaneous lesions, including cysts and moles
  • External ear malformations
  • Chronic wounds
  • Facial trauma
