Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship

The Children’s National Heart Institute provides specialized expertise across the full spectrum of congenital and acquired heart disease in children – from the most common to the most complex. In addition to general cardiac care, our renowned, multidisciplinary team offers state-of-the-art cardiac imaging and diagnostics, interventional cardiology and electrophysiology, heart surgery and cardiac intensive care. We care for a wide range of surgical cardiac patients, from premature infants to adults with acquired and congenital heart disease undergoing cardiac surgery, non-cardiac surgery/procedures and diagnostic procedures. The surgical program performs more than 400 cardiac surgeries per year, encompassing all types of cardiac palliations/repairs including mechanical assist devices and heart transplants.

Our fellowship offers one available position each year to applicants who successfully completed fellowship training in pediatric anesthesiology or cardiac anesthesiology. We offer a rigorous curriculum with individualized training tailored to the applicant’s background. Fellows will train with outstanding pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists as well as colleagues with a diverse background in pediatric cardiology, pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiac surgery. Our goal is to train and foster the next generation of excellent pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists and leaders in the field.
