Biography
- Rebecca Neshkes, Ph.D., earned her doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed a previous postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School and predoctoral internship at Kennedy Krieger Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. As a fellow in the Division of Allergy and Immunology, Rebecca provides assessment, consultation, and evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents and families impacted by food allergies, eosinophilic esophagitis, asthma, eczema, urticaria, and primary immunodeficiency disorders. She also works in the Center for Translational Research on intervention research to support the psychosocial functioning of adolescents with food allergies.

- Tamara Abu-Ramadan graduated from the Clinical Psychology PhD program at the University of Wyoming and completed internship at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware. She is currently a fellow within Psychology and Behavioral Health at Children’s National Hospital to continue training in the evaluation of autism and other developmental differences. She is also working within the Child Health Advocacy Institute’s Community Mental Health CORE to improve advocacy efforts. Clinical and research interests include reducing inequities in health services, especially as it relates to intellectual and developmental disabilities.

- Nakisa earned her Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of South Carolina and completed her predoctoral internship at Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she treated children experiencing traumatic stress behavioral concerns, and anxiety related disorders, and their families. Upon licensure, she will be certified in PCIT and TF-CBT. She provides inpatient and outpatient clinic services to children and families in the Trauma/Burn Service supporting children and caregivers in the aftermath of unintentional injuries. Nakisa is also a member of the Center for Translational Research working on projects related to coping and resilience, traumatic stress, and mechanisms to overcoming adversity. She was recently awarded a Lambert Foundation Pilot Grant to examine resilience in adolescents with ADHD symptoms after an unintentional injury.

Elizabeth Capps graduated from Ohio University’s clinical psychology doctoral program and completed her pre-doctoral internship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She is a fellow with psychology and behavioral health at Children’s National Hospital to continue training in the ADHD & Learning Differences Program. Clinically, she is interested in interventions for adolescents with ADHD and co-occurring concerns. Her research interests focus on school-based intervention for adolescents with ADHD.

Louisa Flynn, PsyD, is a perinatal psychology fellow who works across the DC Mother-Baby Wellness program, Prenatal Pediatrics Institute, and NICU. Dr. Flynn earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology and completed her predoctoral internship in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of California, Davis. She has experience conducting psychological evaluations, offering consultation services, and providing therapy to children, caregivers, and families. Her clinical and research interests include supporting children’s development, improving maternal mental health outcomes, enhancing parent-child relationships, and adapting caregiver-child groups to support caregivers of young neurodiverse children.

Caroline Lowman earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she specialized in child and adolescent psychology. She completed her predoctoral internship at Children’s National and is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Allergy and Immunology. In her role, she provides outpatient therapy and consultation services to children and families to help with managing chronic illnesses and anxiety related to medical procedures. Her research interests center on how ADHD symptoms and executive functioning affect the management of chronic health conditions.

Cara Lucke graduated from the Developmental Psychopathology & Clinical Science track in the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota. She completed her psychology internship at Children’s National Hospital. She is a fellow in the Early Childhood Behavioral Health Program at Children’s National Hospital to continue training providing intervention to young children and conducting diagnostic autism evaluations. Her research interests include intergenerational resilience processes with a focus on pathways that buffer psychological risk, promote positive adaptation, and support effective caregiving practices.

Annie Maldonado, PhD, BCBA earned her doctoral degree from the University of Utah and completed her predoctoral internship at Children’s National Hospital in Clinical Child and Pediatric Psychology. She currently provides assessment and therapy to expectant and postpartum mothers and infants in the DC Mother-Baby Wellness Program, Prenatal Pediatrics Institute, NICU and CICU. Here, she supports caregivers who are coping with complex fetal medical diagnoses (including fetal cardiology), perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and infant-caregiver bonding concerns. Annie is also involved in program development and research projects aimed at expanding the provision of perinatal mental health services to Spanish-speaking patients.

Nneka Nwankwo graduated from Oklahoma State University and completed internship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Paige Trojanowski graduated from George Mason University and completed her internship at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital. She previously completed a two-year fellowship at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes at the University of Colorado and is now working at Children’s National Hospital in the Celiac Disease Program. Her main clinical interests include helping children and adolescents cope with chronic illness and develop independent self-management as well as helping parents manage child behavior. Her research interests include developing behavioral interventions to improve quality of life and adherence and preventing disordered eating in children and adolescents with chronic illness.

Irene Zhang earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Catholic University of America, where her research focused on utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods to identify risk and protective factors associated with self-injurious thoughts and behaviors across various clinical settings and cultural contexts. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, gaining comprehensive experience in the Pediatric Psychology Consultation Program and Child and Family Therapy Clinic. Irene's clinical interests include the implementation of evidence-based interventions for anxiety, as well as developing strategies to enhance coping and adjustment in pediatric populations with acute and chronic medical conditions. As an Anxiety Fellow, she delivers culturally responsive care through both individual and group therapy for children and adolescents with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and comorbid disorders.
