Your kids and their friends will have a blast at Camp New Friends – a fun, supportive and empowering environment for children and teens with neurofibromatosis and their friends, siblings and allies. The camp is a collaboration between Melwood and Children’s National Hospital that creates an exciting and inclusive summer opportunity. The camp welcomes children with and without disabilities and chronic health conditions.

A Summer Adventure Awaits
Camp New Friends serves to reduce the isolation often associated with neurological disorders and chronic health conditions. Parents can feel confident that their children are under the care of a pediatric team specializing in their child’s condition. Counselors are trained in dealing with the issues associated with neuromuscular disease. We also invite counselors and volunteers who live with the condition themselves to share their experiences with the campers.
Ava made such good connections with the girls in her cabin and fit in so, so, so, so well, it makes my heart happy. The girls now share a group text and talk to each other every day.
