The cardiac catheterization team at Children’s National Hospital performs over 600 procedures each year, including electrophysiology, diagnostic and interventional procedures. This high volume translates to a superior level of expertise for pediatric cardiac patients.

Pediatric heart surgeons at Children’s National Hospital perform a high volume of lifesaving surgeries ranging from the most complex congenital problems to the more common issues, all with children’s neurodevelopment in mind.
Long-Term Cardiac Surgery
We collect data and information for every single patient we have operated on. The goal of these graphs is to predict what may happen 10 to 15 years after a child's initial heart surgery.
Heart and Kidney Unit
The Heart and Kidney Unit is where we treat children with heart conditions that are not considered critical. It is also the step-down unit for patients who have previously been in the cardiac ICU and still need some care in preparation for going home. Staff in this high-volume unit are specially trained and experienced in treating all types of congenital heart disease.
