Cardiac Rehabilitation and Fitness Program

Medically-supervised cardiac fitness, rehabilitation and wellness programs are designed to optimize patients’ cardiovascular function, self-confidence, nutrition and habits for leading a long-term heart-healthy life.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation and Fitness Program at Children’s National Hospital is based on the adult cardiac rehabilitation model but is modified for younger individuals and/or those with congenital heart problems. This is a fun and educational program which helps children and young adults improve their heart and lung function and overall fitness, and increase their confidence in physical activity, exercise and sports participation. This is a safe and supervised program that meets each participant’s needs.

It is geared towards younger patients and those with cardiac problems that would not be appropriate in the typical adult cardiac rehab setting.
