Curriculum
The goal of the Pelvic Reconstruction Fellowship is to understand how to evaluate and treat patients with pediatric pelvic reconstruction problems.
Fellowship Objectives
- Understand the newborn assessment of associated malformations and anorectal malformations
- Recognize the different types of anorectal malformations
- Understand the proper newborn radiologic evaluation for anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung's disease
- Develop expertise in the surgical management of the index colorectal reconstructive conditions, particularly as they relate to the indications for reoperative surgery
- Develop expertise in the surgical management of ARM and HD cases requiring reoperations for male (rectobulbar, rectoprostatic and no fistula)
- Understand the medical management for the variety of colorectal problems
- Understand the surgical interventions for fecal incontinence/functional constipation
- Understand the assessment of complex Hirschsprung's disease with postoperative soiling or obstructive symptoms
