The goal of the Pelvic Reconstruction Fellowship is to understand how to evaluate and treat patients with pediatric pelvic reconstruction problems.

Fellowship Objectives

    • Understand the newborn assessment of associated malformations and anorectal malformations
    • Recognize the different types of anorectal malformations
    • Understand the proper newborn radiologic evaluation for anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung's disease
    • Develop expertise in the surgical management of the index colorectal reconstructive conditions, particularly as they relate to the indications for reoperative surgery
    • Develop expertise in the surgical management of ARM and HD cases requiring reoperations for male (rectobulbar, rectoprostatic and no fistula)
    • Understand the medical management for the variety of colorectal problems
    • Understand the surgical interventions for fecal incontinence/functional constipation
    • Understand the assessment of complex Hirschsprung's disease with postoperative soiling or obstructive symptoms
