We are so excited about your interest in Children’s National Hospital! As the current chief residents, we want to share with you why we love working here. We strongly believe that Children’s National offers one of the best combinations of general pediatric and top-tier subspecialty training in one place! We are uniquely positioned in the nation’s capital to provide exceptional care to a large volume of incredibly diverse patients from across D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and the world! We also recognize that patients receive better care when their doctors look like them, and, to that end, work tirelessly to further develop our institutional and programmatic approach to diversity, equity and inclusion. We see this reflected in our resident-led Building Equity Initiative (BEI), and in our amazing, diverse group of residents and faculty.

Our residency program prioritizes resident wellness through a variety of initiatives such as our Opt-Out Mental Health sessions for residents, our partnership with GWU Psychiatry services, and our residency-driven holistic wellness curriculum. Additionally, we have developed a flexible curriculum that allows you to tailor your training to meet your career goals and interests. Read more about our core residency tracks (Categorical Track, Primary Care Track, Leadership in Advocacy, the Underserved, and Community Health Track and Research Track) and several residency pathways (such as Global Health and Medical Education), which help guide residents through the numerous opportunities available at Children’s National. These opportunities are complimented by our unique REACH program, which provides residents with protected longitudinal time for research and scholarship throughout residency.

If the unparalleled pediatric training you’ll receive at Children’s National isn’t enough to bring you here, then consider the exciting city life that Washington, D.C., has to offer. World-renowned museums, happy hours, brunch and live jazz on the National Mall are just a few reasons why it’s so fun to live in the nation’s capital. Truthfully though, the best part of our program is the people. Your co-residents here will become your best friends, closest confidants and some of your most effective teachers.

These are only a few of the many qualities that make learning and training at Children’s National so amazing. We look forward to meeting you and sharing more about why we love our program and are happy to call it home. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Ciara Brown, M.D., M.P.H., Hannah Chase, M.D., Chidumebi Nwokolo, D.O., M.P.H., Grace Quinn, M.D.
