Joining the Children's National Medical Staff
Credentials
Physicians and psychologists joining Children’s National Hospital with the intention of caring for patients will need to obtain medical staff credentials. The Medical Staffing Office oversees this process. After you return your signed offer letter, the office will send you an enrollment packet specific for your clinical area. You will also need to return that packet as quickly as you can while you simultaneously obtain the necessary state and federal licensing documents. These vary by your job description and practice location(s), but may include one or more of the following:
- D.C. Medical License
- Maryland Medical License
- Virginia Medical License
- West Virginia Medical License
- D.C. Psychology License
- Maryland Psychology License (if you will practice in Maryland)
- Virginia Psychology License (if you will practice in Virginia)
- Federal DEA Registration
- D.C. Controlled Substances Registration
- Maryland Controlled Substances Registration
- Virginia Controlled Substances Registration
Obtaining Provider Numbers for Regional Payors
Children’s National will send professional bills on your behalf. The Medical Staffing Office will guide you through the process of obtaining the crucial “provider numbers” that allow Children’s National to be reimbursed for your services.
