Pediatric Pain Medicine

The acute pain service specialized in managing pain in infants, children and adolescents who are admitted to the hospital.  Our team is comprised of board-certified pediatric anesthesiologists and a nurse practitioner with specialized pain management training.

• The most common conditions we treat are acute pain from the following:
• After surgery
• Cancer-related pain such as mucositis
• Chronic illness such as sickle cell disease and autoimmune conditions

The goal of the acute pain service is to safely decrease pain and manage the side effects of pain medications. While your child is in our care, our staff will visit your child every day to make sure that pain is being treated and to watch for side effects. 

It is our pleasure to answer any questions you or your child might have. Your child's nurse can reach us 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In our Chronic Pain Clinic, we offer specialized pain care delivered by:

• Board-certified pain physicians with subspecialized training in pediatric pain
• Pediatric pain psychologists
• A psychiatrist with pediatric pain focus
• Nurse practitioners with specialized pain management training
• Physical therapists with training in pediatric pain

There is no typical pain patient — children in our care experience a wide range of conditions. Our clinic develops personalized treatment plans that blend traditional medicine and alternative therapies to best fit your child's needs. Our team helps children affected by pain that persist beyond what is expected for tissue healing and who have not responded to standard treatments.
