Our exceptional expertise in both gynecology and surgery allows our team to provide medical and surgical treatment for a range of conditions, which can be unique to childhood or persist into adulthood.

Specialized Gynecology Care for Children and Teens

The Pediatric Gynecology Program coordinates care for patients from age 0-21 with a range of surgical and non-surgical concerns. We provide the following services: 

  • Gynecological Care
  • We provide treatment for gynecological care needs including:

    • Menstrual concerns
    • Pelvic pain
    • Endometriosis
    • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
    • Early or delayed puberty
    • Contraception
    • Screening for sexually transmitted infections
  • Routine and Innovative Surgical Management
  • We provide surgical management for conditions such as:

    • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
    • Ovarian masses
    • Ovarian torsion
    • Vulvar trauma
    • Hymenal abnormalities
    • Congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract
  • Fertility Care
    • We provide fertility preservation counseling and hormone replacement therapy for patients at risk for – or experiencing – ovarian failure.
  • Collaborative Care
  • In addition, our pediatric gynecology specialists collaborate with providers throughout Children’s National to provide care in a variety of programs and services. This includes the care of children with:

Expert Gynecology Care from Pediatric to Adulthood

Our program is also unique in our ability to monitor young women during their transition to adult care. This continuity of care is possible through a partnership with MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Some of our team members care for patients at both hospitals into adulthood. This means that as an adult, your daughter has the option to see a physician who knows her medical history.

Fellowship in Pediatric Gynecology

Our team consists of physicians who have completed training in obstetrics and gynecology and who have a special interest in the treatment of children and teenagers. Our fellowship is a collaborative training program between the National Institutes of Health and Children’s National Hospital.
