    Dr. Justine Grier joined the ophthalmology department in 2022 as a pediatric optometrist. After graduating cum laude from the Southern California College of Optometry, she moved to Boston for advanced training in pediatrics, completing the New England College of Optometry pediatric residency program. Dr. Grier is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

    Before moving to the DC area, Dr. Grier served as a clinical faculty member at both UMass Memorial Eye Center and New England Eye Center in Massachusetts. She is thrilled to now provide care exclusively to children, including management of refractive error, amblyopia, and binocular vision disorders. Her clinical interests include non-surgical management of strabismus, myopia control, and evidence-based vision therapy.

    Cori Abrams, C.O, graduated with a Bachelors of Science from the University of Maryland. She then went to Mount Sinai's New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and became a certified orthoptist and certified ophthalmic medical technologist in 1996. She has worked at the Retina Group of Washington and has been an orthopist at Children’s National Hospital since 1997.

    Helia Garcia completed her orthoptic training at the School for Orthoptics at the University Eye Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland in 1998. She obtained the American Orthoptic Council certification in 1999. Helia joined Children's National Hospital in 2007 after working for years at the Dept. for Orthoptics/LV services Hans Goldmann Stiftung at lnselspita/Univ. of Berne in Switzerland eventually co-leading the department.

    She specializes in evaluations and treatments of disorders of the visual system, particularly involving binocular vision and eye movements to detect and manage conditions such as amblyopia, diplopia and complex strabismus. She outlines a customized treatment plan for the pediatric ophthalmologist and in given cases administers orthoptic exercises.
