Ophthalmic Genetics Program
The Ophthalmic Genetics Clinic is devoted specifically to children and adults with inherited eye disease and their families. We work closely with Ophthalmology, Genetics and Neurology to meet the special needs of our patients. Genetic counseling is among the services offered by this multidisciplinary team.
Our clinic treats these conditions:
- Congenital eye malformations (coloboma, microphthalmia and aniridia)
- Chromosomal abnormalities
- Genetic syndromes
- Metabolic abnormalities (Tay Sachs or Hurler syndrome)
- Retinal degenerations (Leber congenital amaurosis)
