Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecologist | Director of the Positive Reevaluation of Urogenital Differences (PROUD) Clinic


Veronica Gomez-Lobo, M.D., is the Director of the Disorder of Sexual Development (DSD) Clinic and Director of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Children’s National Health System. Dr. Gomez-Lobo is an obstetrician gynecologist who specializes in pediatric and adolescent gynecology. She currently provides care at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (WHC), MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and Children's National. 

The program provides services in the care of girls and adolescents with gynecologic issues such as menstrual abnormalities, polycystic ovary syndrome, differences in sex development, vulvar dermatologic conditions as well as pelvic masses. Other conditions include: 


  • Pediatric vulvovaginitis
  • Pre-puberty vaginal bleeding
  • Vulvar lesions and skin disorders
  • Precocious and delayed puberty
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • Pelvic pain
  • Contraception including IUDs and Nexplanon


  • Ovarian cysts
  • Pelvic masses
  • Vaginal agenesis/MRKH
  • Imperforate hymen
  • Structural abnormalities of the vagina and uterus
  • After care for repaired congenital genitourinary abnormalities

Dr. Gomez-Lobo has an academic interest in pediatric and adolescent gynecology as well as women’s health issues in solid organ transplant recipients, and is the clerkship site director for Georgetown University Medical Students. She performs research, and has published/lectured extensively regarding the issues in the field of pediatric gynecology as well as obstetrics and gynecology issues in transplant recipients.
