About the Provider
Suvankar Majumdar, MD, is chief of the Division of Hematology at Children’s National. Dr. Majumdar completed his medical training from the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences and pediatric residency from Michigan State University. He previously served as the director of the Comprehensive Pediatric Sickle Cell Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and also directed the Hemophilia Treatment Center. He is a recognized leader in hematology and sickle cell disease, and is passionate about taking care of patients and families living with hematological disorders. In addition to his broad clinical expertise, Dr. Majumdar is an accomplished researcher and a principal investigator of NIH-funded studies. He is currently evaluating a novel drug for treating sickle cell pain and investigating specific genetic mutations that might be associated with irregular heartbeats in this high-risk population.
