About the Provider
Monica Pearl, MD, is a board-certified American Board of Radiology diplomate with subspecialty fellowship training and certification in Diagnostic Neuroradiology and Interventional Neuroradiology. She is also an Associate Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
She received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Doctor of Medicine from Duke University. Dr. Pearl trained in general surgery and diagnostic radiology at the George Washington University and completed fellowships in both Diagnostic Neuroradiology and Interventional Neuroradiology at the Johns Hopkins University, where she was on faculty from 2010 – 2020.
Her career is dedicated to the care of children with neurovascular disorders, and she brings her expertise to Children’s National Hospital in the areas of cerebrovascular pathology, novel CNS drug delivery platforms and innovative endovascular therapies for CNS disorders including intractable seizures due to hemimegalencephaly.
She has been the recipient of numerous research awards from private foundations as well as from state and federal (NIH) funding sources. Her research is focused on radiation dose reduction strategies and innovative endovascular therapies for pediatric tumors of the head, neck and spine. Dr. Pearl is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, American College of Radiology, a Senior Member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and a member of the Core Steering Group for the Children’s Brain Tumour Drug Delivery Consortium, an international, multidisciplinary network of clinicians and researchers dedicated to developing drug delivery systems for children with brain tumors.
