About the Provider

Mary Revenis, MD, is an attending neonatologist in the Division of Neonatology and an affiliate faculty member of the Child Health Advocacy Institute at Children's National Hospital. Her areas of expertise include nutrition and bone health of newborns and newborn immunizations.

She has been the chair of the D.C. Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Fetus and Newborn Committee for many years, maintaining participation from all D.C. NICUs, and has engaged the March of Dimes and D.C. Health to actively participate. This collaboration has enabled improvements in newborn screening, immunizations, sleep safety education, and breastfeeding.

For several years, she also provided education to health educators in D.C. primary and secondary schools on topics important for perinatal and infant health. Dr. Revenis has had the opportunity to testify to the D.C. Council numerous times and is active on the following D.C. Health committees: newborn screening, perinatal HIV/AIDS reviews, and the Medical Examiner's Infant Mortality Review Committee, providing newborn medicine expertise. She is also a member of the D.C. Breastfeeding Committee and is currently helping to create a curriculum about the nutrition of human milk for primary and secondary students. Her major interests include immunizations, safe sleeping, infant mortality, breastfeeding and nutrition. Preventative medicine and educating children to help break the cycle of harmful health practices are important to Dr. Revenis.
