Lauren E. Clary, Ph.D., serves as the clinical psychologist with the Division of Endocrinology & Diabetes at Children’s National Medical Center and provides pediatric psychosocial services for children and families at the downtown hospital as well as at the Montgomery County Regional Outpatient Center in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Clary works with children, teens, and their families experiencing a wide range of challenges including difficulties adjusting to their diagnosis or to completing daily regimen tasks, while at the same time promoting the child’s emotional well-being and quality of life. She also works with families experiencing difficulties related to family communication/conflict, school problems, and peer issues related, in part, to the child’s illness experience.
Dr. Clary is an active participant in the training of psychology students and serves as an outpatient case supervisor for psychology predoctoral interns. She also maintains several predoctoral externship placements for advanced graduate students in psychology looking for practicum experience within the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes. Further, Dr. Clary participates in an active clinical research program led by Dr. Randi Streisand and has authored scientific papers as well as delivered presentations regarding children and parents impacted by childhood illness.
