CHAI Community Affairs

CHAI’s Community Affairs team connects underserved children in the community to the expertise and resources of our health system.

Combining innovative research and evidence-based ideas with proven best practices, our programs aim to improve community health by:

  • Improving access to healthcare
  • Advancing medical or health knowledge
  • Relieving or reducing the burden on government or other community efforts

Our community outreach efforts align with the 2013-16 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), a three-year blueprint for improving health in DC that Children’s National helped draft as part of the DC Healthy Communities Collaborative. The 2017-2019 CHIP is now available here. In 2017, CHAI also released the Children’s National School-Based Health Programs Assessment, as well as a one-page summary about the program.
