UAE Students Visit Patients at Children's National
Thirteen Emirati students from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) Scholarship Program visited with patients at Children’s National and toured the Sheikh Zayed Institute, and the Washington Nationals’ Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex.
The students donated toys to the children, and shared a number of UAE cultural traditions. The students posed for photos in the Emirati traditional dress, demonstrated the ‘Yola’ traditional dance, and taught patients how to write their names in Arabic. Part of the visit was covered live on WPAW, Children’s National and Seacrest Studios’ closed-circuit television and radio station, so that all of the patients who were not able to leave their hospital rooms could also be involved.
As part of their program, ADIA scholarship students at universities across the US make an annual visit to the UAE Embassy in Washington D.C., and participate in a community service project while in the nation’s capital. Coming to see patients at Children’s National during their visit has become a popular trend.

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority Scholarship students visited Children’s National on May 24, 2016. The students demonstrated a traditional UAE dance and taught the patients how to write their names in Arabic, among other fun activities. Part of the visit was covered live on WPAW, Children’s National and Seacrest Studios’ closed-circuit television and radio station, so all of the patients who were not able to make it to the event could also be involved. The students also toured the Sheikh Zayed Institute and made a generous toy donation for the kids at the hospital.
