Sheikh Zayed Institute Leader Interviewed by MedTech Intelligence on Incentive Gaps in Pediatric Device Development

Kolaleh Eskandanian, PhD, MBA, PMP, Executive Director of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, spoke with MedTech Intelligence, where she discussed the challenges associated with pediatric device development and innovation, highlighting the gaps in funding and incentives. Eskandanian described the Sheikh Zayed Institute as an “innovation hub” that “sits at the intersection of research and clinical care,” and gives examples of the ways in which the Institute is working through those challenges, covering the National Capital Consortium competition, annual Pediatric Innovation Symposium, and developments in 3D printing use for personalized medicine.
