Children's National Medical Center Names Dr. Joshua Kanter as Director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Washington, DC—Children’s National Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Kanter, MD, as director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories. In this role, he also serves as a Program Director for Children’s National Heart Institute. Dr. Kanter has been at Children’s National for more than six years.
“Dr. Kanter is a skillful practitioner who blends technology, research, and compassion every day,” said Charles Berul, MD, Chief of Cardiology at Children’s National. “His leadership will build on a strong foundation and help advance our interventional cardiology services for patients and families.”
Dr. Kanter will have leadership responsibilities for all issues related to the Interventional Cardiology Program and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Children’s National.
Dr. Kanter, along with his interventional cardiology colleagues Michael Slack, MD and Kanishka Ratnayaka, MD, perform more than 500 cardiac catheterizations each year. The cath lab provides a minimally invasive option for some patients with congenital heart defects. Children’s National offers all current cardiac catheterization treatment options available in the country.
Dr. Kanter is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and has published extensively on pediatric cardiology. He has served on several national committees, including the National Cardiology Data Registry IMPACT Registry™ Implementation Group.
