We are proud of the Children's National Hospital Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship and its unique training opportunities. Our goals are to provide well-rounded training for fellows in clinical pediatric infectious diseases and in medical research. Successful completion of our ACGME-accredited program will provide the individual with the necessary qualifications for a position as a board-certified pediatric infectious diseases specialist.

Our program consists of three tracks, including two FDA Tracks affiliated with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and a Traditional Track. Clinical training is identical for all tracks, with the tracks differing in research training focus only. We also offer a Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

We accept up to three new fellows (one per track) in the pediatric infectious diseases fellowship program each year and one possible combined internal medicine-pediatric infectious diseases fellow each year.

How to Apply

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program accepts fellowship applications via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Specialties Matching Service, in the combined Medicine and Pediatric Specialties Match.

Applications for the med-peds combined fellowship go through the ERAS to the NIH/NIAID Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program. Successful matching in the combined medicine and pediatric specialties Match at NIH/NIAID guarantees a spot in the combined med-peds ID program in conjunction with Children’s National, without needing to match separately for the pediatric component.
