Dancing After Dark Helps Junior Council Eclipse $1 Million in Giving

On Feb. 4, Children’s National’s Junior Council hosted its 10^th annual Dancing After Dark at Dock 5 at Union Market. Nearly 400 young professionals, emerging leaders, and children’s health advocates supported the mission of Children’s National while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and music from the band Nightsong. The event raised more than $150,000.

Since 2008, Dancing After Dark and the Junior Council have raised more than $1 million to help Children’s National provide the most sophisticated, personalized, and compassionate care for every child in need, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

“That’s $1 million toward research, clinical care, community health, and much, much more,” said Dr. Kurt Newman, president and CEO of Children’s National. “Everyone involved with the Junior Council and Dancing After Dark this year and in years past should be proud of this accomplishment.”

The Junior Council is led by co-chairs Carolyn Downs and Paul Grayson, who helped plan the event with the help of their committee and Founder’s Reception co-chairs LeeAnn Goheen and John Green. The Junior Council’s mission is to raise awareness about Children’s National among young professionals through fundraising events, volunteering activities, and networking events.
