Children’s National provides afterhours pediatric triage service supported by Children’s National on-call doctors for our established patients. This can prevent unnecessary trips to urgent care or the emergency room, even when our offices are closed.

How It Works

Call your child's primary care office after hours and you'll be routed to an on-call doctor who can provide medical advice.

Afterhours Telemedicine Visits

Children’s National primary care has partnered with Hello Pediatrics, a group of board-certified pediatricians, to provide afterhours telemedicine appointments and nurse advice wherever you may be located. Your primary care office will also follow-up after your visit to ensure continued care and healthy outcomes for your child.

Call your primary care office to connect with a Hello Pediatrics provider for a telemedicine visit now! 

*For life-threatening emergencies, please proceed to the nearest Emergency Room or dial 911.

After-Visit Summary

The after-visit summary is available via the Hello Pediatrics online patient portal. A link will be sent to the patient's email following the visit.

Prescriptions

Prescriptions are handled in the same manner as an in-person visit and are delivered electronically to the patient's pharmacy. Narcotics may not be prescribed during the visit.

Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. - 12 a.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. - 10 p.m.; Holidays from 12 p.m. - 12 a.m. Overnight and early morning nurse triage is provided by pediatric-trained registered nurses by phone.
