Biography

As a pediatrician, I am blessed to be in a position to positively impact the health of future generations. I believe children and their family units are as unique as the individual flowers in a garden and should be nurtured as such.

My journey into medicine began right here in the great state of Maryland! I am best described as a Prince George’s County native who was graciously adopted by the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. After graduating from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, I pursued higher academics at Drexel University (go Dragons!), before continuing my education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). At PCOM, I earned a Master of Science in Forensic Medicine, as well as my medical doctorate degree while serving as class president throughout my studies. During my final year of medical school, I was nominated and awarded the Mason Pressley Award, which is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a medical student at PCOM.

After medical school, I completed my pediatric residency in Detroit through the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Both institutions have strong reputations as leaders in medicine and afforded the privilege to teach medical students, as well as the local community about common childhood illnesses, reproductive health and health maintenance. I also had the opportunity to explore the social determinants of health through the University of Michigan population health certification program. This perspective built upon my previous experiences traveling abroad for medical missions to Ghana, West Africa, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

My greatest adventure, however, was the birth of our beautiful, energetic and inquisitive son, David Xavier. As the proud mom of a now-toddler, I look forward to helping families through the inherent challenges of childhood transitions, from breastfeeding support to puberty and beyond!
