Shreelata Durbhakula, M.D., grew up in Colorado with her older brother and younger sister. She decided to pursue medicine early on in her educational career and moved east for undergraduate and medical school at Brown University. Dr. D, as many of her patients call her, knew she wanted to be a pediatrician when she realized the lifelong impact she could have in the field.
Dr. D moved to Cleveland where she completed her pediatrics residency at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Following residency, Dr. D stayed on to do a year as chief resident and then joined the faculty as assistant residency program director. She joined Friendship Pediatrics in 2008 when she and her husband moved to Maryland with their two young daughters.
Throughout Dr. D's time in pediatrics, she has taken a special interest in working with new parents and issues with breastfeeding. As a vegetarian and the mother of a child with food allergies, these have also become areas of interest for her. Dr. D is board certified through the American Academy of Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
