Shaanan Meyerstein, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, is a pediatrician and Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). He is also a clinical instructor of pediatrics in the Emergency Department at Children’s National Hospital, where he also worked as an associate for two years. Prior to his work in the E.D., Dr. Meyerstein spent a year with the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Corps in Botswana after completing a pediatric residency at Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York. He graduated from Columbia University with a bachelor's degree and the Ben-Gurion University Medical School for International Health in Beersheva, Israel, with a medical degree. Dr. Meyerstein has a particular interest in medical diplomacy and working with migrant populations with complex medical needs.
