Biography

Panagiotis Kratimenos, M.D., Ph.D., is a neonatologist at Children's National Hospital. He also is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Kratimenos’ research interest focuses on understanding mechanisms of neonatal brain injury. Specifically, he studies mechanisms of neuronal damage following brain hypoxia-ischemia and inflammation of various causes aiming to develop effective neuroprotective therapies for the affected newborns. Dr. Kratimenos' clinical interests focus on neonatal encephalopathy and therapeutic hypothermia, necrotizing enterocolitis and ECMO. He is actively involved in the education of medical students, residents and neonatology fellows. He enjoys traveling and cooking.
