Nita L. Seibel, M.D., is a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric hematologist-oncologist. After graduating from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1988, she completed her internship and residency at the Ohio State University Children’s Hospital in 1984. Dr. Seibel completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at the Pediatric Oncology Branch, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in 1987. She joined the faculty of Children's National Hospital in 1988 and is a professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
While at Children's National, Dr. Seibel has served for over 15 years on the Institutional Review Board, as Director of the Hematology/Oncology Training Program for nine years and as Principal Investigator for Children's Oncology Group. Dr. Seibel has chaired numerous studies for the Children’s Oncology Group including chairing the Phase I Data Safety Monitoring Committee and served as vice-chair for Phase I agents. Dr. Seibel was also a member of the National Wilms Tumor Study and later the COG Renal Tumor Committee.
Dr. Seibel's areas of special interest are: Wilms tumor, bone tumors, ALL, and adolescent and young adult oncology as well as late effects. She also has a special interest in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in adolescents and young adults and anti-fungal agents.
