Michael Mancilla, LICSW, is a psychotherapist with the Youth Pride Clinic and he has specialized training as a gender therapist. He provides health education on the unique needs of LGBTQ youth to clinical providers and staff at Children’s National Hospital and in the community.
Michael was instrumental in helping to pass the LGBT Clinical Cultural Competency Law In Washington, D.C., and testified to pass the first legislation in the country which requires all licensed health care providers to receive this training to maintain their license.
Michael also maintains private practice and co-authored the book “Love in the Time of HIV: The Gay Man’s Guide to Sex, Dating, and Relationships", which was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award. He has over 20 years of experience providing services to the LGBTQ community and he has been profiled in front page stories of the Washington Post, the New York Times and two CNN documentaries.
