Melissa Long, M.D., is a general pediatrician at the Children’s Health Center at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and an assistant professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She oversees the integration of mental health into primary care at the Children’s Health Center and leads ongoing initiatives to improve the identification of children who are at risk for mental health and developmental disorders and more effectively links them to care. Since 2019, she has served as the Director of the D.C. Mental Health Access in Pediatrics (DC MAP) program, designed to support pediatric providers in the District with integrating mental health into pediatric primary care and with improving their comfort in addressing their patients’ mental health concerns. Additional clinical interests include caring for adolescent parents and their children, and medical education.
